Inter Crop Hosts Seminar on Managing Horticultural Crops amid Environmental Crises with Plant Growth Regulators
As climate volatility increasingly impacts global agriculture, projections indicate that within the next five years, global temperatures are likely to break historical records. This trend poses significant challenges for farmers, requiring them to adopt new approaches to manage crops under extreme and unpredictable conditions. In response, Inter Crop Group organized a seminar on “Managing Horticultural Crops amid Environmental Crises with Plant Growth Regulators” for its business partners on September 3, 2025, at Best Western Nada Don Mueang Airport Hotel. The seminar featured three distinguished speakers, aiming to equip growers of key horticultural crops—such as durian and mango—with practical knowledge and techniques to maintain yield and crop resilience, even under unavoidable environmental stress, through the proper, timely, and effective use of Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs).
The session began with a session by Professor Emeritus Dr. Yongyuth Osotsapar, Soil Scientist and faculty member of the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen, Kasetsart University. His presentation provided in-depth insights into plant stress under environmental crises, along with methods for assessing stress symptoms in crops.
This was followed by a presentation from Dr. Parichart Potchanasin, Senior Agricultural Expert, Horticultural Research Institute, Department of Agriculture, who discussed the classification of Plant Growth Regulators, their appropriate applications in different crops, and proper usage techniques to ensure plant survival, enhance productivity, and strengthen tolerance against environmental stressors.
The program concluded with a session by Mr. Kriengsak Saengsridam, Technical Manager, Inter Crop Group, who shared professional techniques on the application of PGRs for off-season durian production, covering practices from growth stages through to post-harvest. Additionally, experimental results on PGR applications across various crops were showcased at the event, delivering comprehensive knowledge to business partners and reinforcing Inter Crop’s commitment to supporting Thai farmers in overcoming agricultural challenges. For over 37 years, Inter Crop Group has continuously dedicated itself to advancing agricultural innovation and standing alongside growers, ensuring resilience and sustainability for the Thai agricultural sector.
